How to install your new A Series Rings

Back to Tutorials

Install in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, all four doors.

ATTENTION: These angled rings are semi-fragile, please use a wire cutter or sharp scissors to cut the zip ties holding them together. They are bound for safe shipping. Always be careful while handling them. These speaker rings are made to general specifications, they will not fit into all vehicles. Please measure your car before purchasing. Custom angled rings are available!

Uses for the A Series Rings:

Factory locations for speakers are not ideal for sound quality. These mountings are convenient for the manufacturer when piecing together their vehicles. These factory locations angle the speakers toward your feet, the floorboards, consoles, and other inanimate objects that do not require quality sound. The old way to fix this problem is to waste time fiberglassing an entire enclosure just for the speakers so they are angled more efficiently for listening to music. There is now a new, much more efficient, solution to this problem. Angled speaker rings solve this mounting problem without expensive resins, or hours of drying and sanding time. Mounting the angled speaker rings to the factory locations will provide a place to mount your speakers directing the sound to your ears, not the floor. A Series Rings can be purchased here.

Installing the A Series Rings:

The first step to installing these rings is to remove the door panel using a door panel removal tool, unscrew the factory speakers and disconnect the speaker wires. Be sure to check for screws, clips, and wire harnesses when removing the door panel.

The angled rings need to be prepared for installation, the holes must be predrilled, and countersunk for proper installation. If you are using the factory screw holes to mount the ring to, line up the speaker to the ring, or the ring to the factory mounting place to line up the holes to the desired angle you would like the speakers facing. Pre-drill and countersink the holes. If you do not have a countersink drill bit, you can (carefully!) use a larger drill bit. The countersink should be only deep enough to flush mount the screw you are using to mount the ring. DO NOT try to drill through or countersink the thinnest part of the ring, it could break!

You will then mount the ring to the door. If using the factory screw holes, you may use the factory screws. If not, use self-tapping sheet metal screws.

Once the ring is mounted, line up the speaker to the ring, pre-drill and mount the speaker. Be sure to hook the wires to the speaker before mounting. It is best to pre-drill and screw through the ring as well as the sheet metal and use long enough screws to properly mount the speaker.

Now you will need to replace the door panel. Remember to re-connect all wire harnesses and replace all screws and clips that were removed to prevent rattles and ensure all of the factory electronics will continue to function.

Finally, test the newly installed speakers to make sure everything was correctly connected and functioning properly. Now you can enjoy your great sound quality from the proper angle of the speakers!
